WhistlePig

WhistlePig is a distillery located on a large farm in Shoreham, Vermont. It was founded in 2007 by Raj Bhakta, and their first whiskey was released in 2010. The brand primarily focuses on rye whiskeys, but have also released bourbon and malt recipes.

The distillery has twin 750 gallon pot stills in a farmhouse, and the still-operating farm produces grain used for the whiskey, as well as maple trees and a variety of livestock.

Dave Pickerell was the company’s original master distiller after leaving Maker’s Mark. He passed away in 2018.

A whistle pig is another name for a groundhog or woodchuck. Bhakta chose the name for the farm after a humorous encounter while hiking in Vail, and the name stuck when the distillery was established.1Dram Devotees – Where Whistle Pig Got Its Name

Since its founding in 2007, the distillery has sourced well-aged whiskey primarily from Alberta Distillers in Canada, as well as MGP. More recently, the distillery has been bottling their own estate-distilled and aged whiskey.
