* Note: This article uses information from the U.S. Department of the Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). Whiskey labels are approved by the TTB weeks or months ahead of their release and public announcement, so details about pricing and availability aren’t available yet. Furthermore, any proof statements on the label may be placeholders and might change before the official release announcement. However, everything else on the label will appear as it does here, so this gives us a great early look at an upcoming release.
WhistlePig CampStock Wheat Whiskey is an American whiskey produced by WhistlePig in collaboration with Solo Stove, known for their smokeless camping stoves and fire pits. The label was approved by TTB on October 30, 2023.1TTB Approval
It is bottled at 86 proof and is made up of a blend of two components:
- 90% made up of a wheat whiskey distilled by MGP and aged in barrels toasted at 1000ºF by one of Solo Stove’s fire pits.
- 10% rye whiskey distilled in Vermont by WhistlePig and aged in No. 1 char barrels.
A number 1 char is charred for only 15 seconds, a very short period of time with an effect that is only slightly more intense than a barrel toasting process.
CampStock follows 2023’s WhistlePig SummerStock Whiskey, a collaboration with Pit Viper.
