Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled Special Release Heritage Barrel Rye

Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled Special Release Heritage Barrel Rye is a limited edition whiskey that is part of Jack Daniel’s annual series of special releases. It is bottled at 100 proof, and was released in August 2023.

The whiskey is double-barreled, first aged for at least five years in new, charred American white oak barrels. Afterward, it is finished for an additional two years in Jack Daniel’s Heritage barrels, which are heavily toasted and lightly charred. The barrels are produced by the Jack Daniel Cooperage, showcasing “the expertise of our cooperage and elevate innovation through the barrel making process,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller.

The neck label notes the dates of entry into the first barrel, second barrel, and bottling date, giving fans the complete information about the age of their whiskey.

Its label was approved by the TTB in March 2023, and was announced by the distillery on August 15, 2023.1Press Release

This release is a follow-up to 2022’s Twice Barreled Special Release American Single Malt, which was bottled at cask strength and finished in sherry barrels. It is the second rye whiskey in the Special Release lineup, after 2020’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye.
