Not to be confused with Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, this whiskey's base before being matured in a third barrel to become Double Double Oaked.
Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked is a bourbon produced by Woodford Reserve. It is part of the company’s Distillery Series, which is made up of limited or experimental releases that are available only at the distillery or select retailers in Kentucky.
It was introduced in 2016, and is the only Distillery Series expression that is available on a regular cadence. Like the flagship Woodford Reserve bourbon, it is bottled at 90.4 proof.
Double Double Oaked starts with fully mature Double Oaked, a bourbon that is aged first in an air-dried, toasted and charred barrel before being finished in a heavily toasted and lightly charred barrel. Double Double Oaked finishes that bourbon in yet another heavily toasted, lightly-charred new oak barrel for an additional year.
Double Oaked was inspired by 2009’s Master’s Collection release, Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Seasoned Oak Finish, which took 7 year old bourbon and finished it for 8 months in staves that were air-dried for 3-5 years.
