Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon

Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon is a barrel proof bourbon released by Old Forester in 2020. It is made up of 150 barrel selected by Master Distiller Chris Morris and blended into three different batches by Master Taster Jackie Zykan.

Old Forester was founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, who is recognized as the first person to sell their bourbon in glass bottles rather than barrels. This release is packaged in an amber glass bottle, which uses Old Forester’s familiar modern shape but rather than using a clear bottle, the amber color was chosen to represent the style of many of the bottles of the 1870s.

Brown also pioneered batching his whiskey to ensure a consistent flavor profile, sourcing his bourbon from three distilleries (Mellwood, Mattingly and Atherton). This three-batch release serves as a tribute to that process as well.

The three batches were all released simultaneously, and each features a unique flavor profile. All were bottled at barrel strength and without chill filtration.
