* Note: This article uses information from the U.S. Department of the Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). Whiskey labels are approved by the TTB weeks or months ahead of their release and public announcement, so details about pricing and availability aren’t available yet. Furthermore, any proof statements on the label may be placeholders and might change before the official release announcement. However, everything else on the label will appear as it does here, so this gives us a great early look at an upcoming release.
Elijah Craig Toasted Rye is an upcoming rye whiskey produced by Heaven Hill as part of the Elijah Craig family. It builds on the brand’s rye whiskey by finishing it in a new, toasted oak barrel before being bottled at Elijah Craig’s traditional 94 proof.
Like Elijah Craig Straight Rye, it uses Heaven Hill’s barely-legal rye recipe, which has a 51% rye mashbill shared with two of Heaven Hill’s other products, Pikesville Rye and Rittenhouse Rye.
It also follows in the footsteps of Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel, which takes the brand’s standard bourbon recipe and uses a new toasted oak barrel for finishing.
