Bulleit Blender’s Select Batch #001 was a limited release from Bulleit.
Bottled at 100 proof and aged for at least 6 years, it was meant to be the first in a series of whiskeys intended to showcase the creativity of the distillery’s blenders. Then-Bulleit Blender Eboni Major was featured prominently in the whiskey’s promotion, but she left the distillery shortly afterward in mid-2020 amidst a discrimination lawsuit.1For One Black Whiskey Maker, Accolades and Now a Lawsuit – The New York Times
The source of the whiskey is of some debate. Promotional products for the whiskey state that it is a blend of “three of the 10 distillates that are often part of the original Bulleit Bourbon blend,” and that they “mingle ten distillates that are the outcome of two high-rye mashbills, each distilled with five proprietary yeast strains.”2Paste Magazine This echoes the description of Four Roses’ bourbons, which had previously been the source of Bulleit whiskeys until around 2015 as they shared the same parent company, Kirin, at the time. However, Diageo purchased the brand in 2001 and has not explicitly stated where Bulleit’s current releases were produced.
