* Note: This article uses information from the U.S. Department of the Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). Whiskey labels are approved by the TTB weeks or months ahead of their release and public announcement, so details about pricing and availability aren’t available yet. Furthermore, any proof statements on the label may be placeholders and might change before the official release announcement. However, everything else on the label will appear as it does here, so this gives us a great early look at an upcoming release.

Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Rye is an upcoming release from Angel’s Envy, with an expected release date toward the end of 2023.

It is expected that it will be released alongside the annual edition of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon, and that we can look forward to two cask strength releases each fall going forward.

While the standard edition of Angel’s Envy Rye is finished in rum barrels and bottled at 100 proof, this release is a blend of ryes with two different barrel finishes:

  • MGP rye finished for three years in Sauternes dessert wine barrels
  • MGP rye finished in new toasted oak barrels

“By marrying the two, we found that the spicy toasted oak and sweet wine characters from each rye balanced each other perfectly – resulting in our first cask strength rye,” according to the label.
