Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled Special Release American Single Malt is a limited edition whiskey that is part of Jack Daniel’s annual series of special releases.
This whiskey marks the first time the Jack Daniel Distillery is using a 100% malted barley mashbill. The whiskey is double-barreled, first aged for at least four years in new, charred American white oak barrels. Afterward, it is finished for an additional two years in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks from the Antonio Paez Lobato Cooperage.
It undergoes the traditional charcoal mellowing process before being bottled at cask strength, which ranges from 106.1 to 107.8 proof. The whiskey offers an aroma of soft oak, fruit, and cocoa, with flavors of caramel, vanilla, chocolate-covered nuts, berries, and a subtle sherry finish.
Jack Daniel’s has previously released only a few barrel-finished whiskeys, including some in the Tennessee Tasters collection, and No. 27 Gold, which was finished in a maple wood barrel.
It is the first whiskey in the Special Release series to use a new 700ml bottle size.
