Old Grand Dad was originally produced starting in the 1880s by Raymond B. Hayden, who named the brand after his grandfather, Basil Hayden Sr. Although his name is on another of Beam’s brands, his portrait is on Old Grand Dad.
Old Grand Dad uses a high-rye mash bill (as favored by Basil Hayden, Sr.), a recipe that it shares with the Basil Hayden’s bourbon line.
