WhistlePig SmokeStock Whiskey is an American whiskey produced by WhistlePig in 2022 in collaboration with Traeger Grills, who are known for their wood pellet smoking grills.
It is bottled at 86 proof, and WhistlePig did not provide information about the whiskey’s composition or recipe and it doesn’t carry an age statement. Notably, the company doesn’t refer to this as a rye whiskey in it’s marketing materials, so it’s likely a blend of multiple recipes. Like many of WhistlePig’s releases, it is sourced from Alberta Distillers in Canada.
It was aged in No. 3 char American Oak barrels that were smoked with Traeger’s apple barbecue wood pellets, then proofed the whiskey using smoke-infused water. The result is a whiskey that imparts “campfire smoke and subtle savory notes alongside our signature bold and spice-forward style,” according to WhistlePig.
It follows 2021’s WhistlePig RoadStock Rye, a collaboration with Firestone Walker Brewing Company.
