Michter’s US 1 Kentucky Straight Rye is a single barrel whiskey bottled by Michter’s. It is sourced from an undisclosed Kentucky distillery.
Michter’s whiskey goes into the barrel at 103 proof, which is a uniquely low proof point relative to the rest of the industry. The rye is then bottled at 84.4 proof after maturation. The “US-1” on the label represents Michter’s history as America’s first-established whiskey company.
The company has also released several limited release variations of their rye, including a barrel strength edition, one finished in a toasted barrel, as well as their 10 year old rye.
