Burnside Oregon Oaked Rye is a blended rye whiskey (straight rye and straight whiskey ranging in age and mash bill) produced by Eastside Distilling for their Burnside brand family.
Like all Burnside whiskeys, it is finished for an undisclosed amount of time in Oregon White Oak (Quercus garryana) casks. It was very likely the first rye whiskey to be finished in Oregon oak.
According to Eastside Distilling, Quercus garryana “is almost sponge like from the fast growing it does in the wet Oregon winters. Not only does it soak up the whiskey and deeply flavor it, it has high contents of dessert tannins that are perfectly complementary to bourbon, whiskey and ryes, while also imparting the terroir of the fertile valley soils.”
