Costco begins sourcing from Barton 1792 for three new Kirkland Signature bourbon expressions
Costco is well-known for their extremely reasonable prices and high quality of their in-house branded liquors. It's no secret that Costco often sources from some of the best producers for their wine and spirits products, but rarely reveals the actual source of those products (as Costco doesn't themselves distill spirits).
In a surprising break with that tradition, a new batch of labels suggests that Costco is not only hinting at that source, but displaying it prominently on its labels.
Three new Kirkland Signature-branded bourbons are coming in partnership with Barton 1792. It's unclear if this will replace Costco's current 7-year Tennessee bourbon (they've also sourced from Kentucky in the past), but these new releases will offer members a way to try three different expressions, all in 1-liter bottles:
- Kirkland Signature Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 92 proof
- Kirkland Signature Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 100 proof
- Kirkland Signature Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 120 proof
No additional information about pricing or availabilty yet (see update below) , but expect to see these on shelves in the next few months.
Update 5/17/2021: Costco has officially launched these new expressions. Pricing will likely vary from store to store, but these will release on a rotating basis starting in June with the Small Batch in select locations and limited quantities.
