Joseph Magnus Bourbon draws inspiration from the legacy of Joseph A. Magnus, a pre-Prohibition whiskey brand established in 1892. The brand was revived in 2015 with a commitment to producing exceptional bourbon whiskey.
One of the distinctive features of Joseph Magnus Bourbon is its triple cask finishing process. The bourbon is initially matured in new American white oak barrels, then finished in Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry and cognac casks. Rather than blending three separate cask-finished bourbons, Joseph Magnus will sit in four different barrels before it is bottled, moving from one to the next. This triple cask finishing adds complexity and layers of flavor to the whiskey.
Joseph Magnus Bourbon is known for its complex flavor profile. It often exhibits notes of caramel, vanilla, dried fruits, baking spices, and a touch of oak. The triple cask finishing contributes additional nuances of sweetness, nuttiness, and a hint of wine-like character.
