Metallica's BLACKENED Whiskey launches Rye the Lightning, finished in Madeira and rum casks

TL;DR
Sweet Amber Distilling Co. has announced a new limited release, BLACKENED Kentucky Straight Rye Double Cask Finished Whiskey, otherwise known as Rye the Lightning.
Bottled at 90 proof, it's made up of 5-8 year old whiskey selected by the brand's Master Distiller & Blender, Rob Dietrich. The whiskeys are then finished in Madeira wine and Caribbean rum casks for 2-14 weeks each. During rum cask finishing, the company uses their proprietary BLACK NOISE aging technique, which vibrates the barrels using low hertz frequencies of Metallica’s music - in this case, the playlist consisted of the band's live Rye the Lightning performance from the June 2012 Orion Music + More festival. The performance is also available for download from the brand's website.
The double cask finishing results in notes of dried fig, hay, pinewood, pear, and rum cake on the nose, and on the palate, clover honey, mint, corn husk, sugar cane, walnut, and cinnamon.

This is the second BLACKENED rye whiskey following last year's collaboration with Willett, which was also finished in Madeira casks and bottled at cask strength.
Rye the Lightning is making it's way across the country now for a suggested retail price of $70 per 750ml bottle.
