Castle & Key Restoration Rye batches 2 and 3 coming to more states
Castle & Key is preparing to release the next two batches in their Restoration Rye 2021 series, each with their own unique flavor profile. Both use the same 17% yellow corn, 63% rye, 20% malted barley mash bill.
Restoration Rye Batch #2
According to Jon Brown, Research & Development Manager at Castle & Key Distillery, Restoration Rye Batch #2 is a blend that showcases "many of the traditional rye whiskey characteristics of baking spice, brown sugar and dark fruit." It's a blend of 75 barrels, with a yield of 18,648 bottles. It's bottled at 104 proof.
Restoration Rye Batch #3
Brown states that Batch #3 is "more non-traditional with delicate flavors of citrus and stone fruit." It's bottled at 105 proof, and 16,830 bottles are available from a batch of 70 barrels.
Castle & Key is located at the newly-restored Old Taylor Distillery in Frankfort, KY. The distillery's releases were initially only available in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas and Georgia when they launched last year. Distribution for this release will also include Illinois, Colorado and Washington.
Both Restoration Rye releases will be available for a suggested retail price of $43.
