Blue Run Spirits introduces fall limited release Golden Rye Whiskey
Blue Run Spirits has announced their fourth limited-edition whiskey since their first release last October.
This month, Blue Run Kentucky Straight Golden Rye Whiskey will be hitting shelves, a small-batch rye made up of 91 barrels and bottled at 95 proof. The company didn't disclose the mash bill, age, or source of these rye barrels.
“Our goal with our Golden Rye was to make it just as approachable as our Bourbons, but still maintain spicy elements that are the hallmark of Ryes," said Mike Montgomery, Blue Run's CEO and co-founder. I think we were able to achieve the drinkability of Bourbon with the pronounced personality of Rye.”
Tasting notes from the company mention a honey-baked graham cracker aroma, and an easy finish with honey, pear syrup and ginger.
Blue Run's Golden Rye is hitting shelves at retailers this month for a suggested price of $100. Additionally, bottles will be sold on Blue Run's website on Monday, September 6 at 3 pm Eastern, though it's worth noting that the last few releases sold out within minutes.
Additionally, Blue Run revealed that this will be followed by yet another limited release, a high-rye bourbon set to be released in October. These two new bottlings follow their inaugural releases:
- Fall 2020: Blue Run 13-Year-Old Small Batch Bourbon
- Spring 2021: Blue Run 13.5-Year-Old Single Barrel Bourbon (San Francisco Wold Spirits Competition Best Single Barrel Bourbon – 11 Years & Older)
- Summer 2021: Blue Run 14-Year-Old Small Batch Bourbon (San Francisco Wold Spirits Competition Best Small Batch Bourbon – 11 Years & Older)
