Angel's Envy celebrates the 10th release of Cask Strength
Louisville Distilling Co. has announced plans for this year's Angel's Envy Cask Strength release.
Angel's Envy has been bottling an annual limited-edition Cask Strength release since 2012, when it was a run of only 600 bottles. It comes from a small number of standout barrels that are "put through an extended finishing process in port wine barrels from Portugal. These special barrels bring forward distinct characteristics in the whiskey, giving each expression of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength a unique nose, palate and finish," according to the company.
This year's marks the tenth entry in the series, which will be bottled at 120.7 proof. It's packaged in a carved wooden box commemorating the 10th release. The flagship Angel's Envy release is bottled at 86.6 proof.
...complex on the nose, with notes of peach and cherry accompanied by hints of brandy, tea and honey. Notes of leather, toasted oak and vanilla carry into the palate, along with flavors of stone fruit and port that give way to creamy crème brûlée and honey with nutty marzipan. The finish features slight tannins and notes of black tea, apricot and smoke.
