Distilled at Stitzel-Weller in the early 1980s, W. L. Weller 19 Year-Old was released as part of the first three editions of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, included in 2000, 2001, and 2002. In 2003 and 2004, the collection didn’t included a Weller brand, until it returned again in 2005 with the first edition of William Larue Weller.
Buffalo Trace acquired the Weller brand in 1999. However, in 2003, Sazerac made an agreement with Old Rip Van Winkle to prioritize the use of wheated whiskey stocks for the Van Winkle brand, which caused production to cease for W.L. Weller 19 Year Old.
